Summer Camp

Aloha Surfing School's teaching model has been designed to benefit the beginner and the advanced surfer alike. We base all of our camp activites around surfing, athleticism, team participation, and personal development. Students ages six and older can begin the magical journey of learning to surf.

Our Staffing ratio is one instructor for every five students. This provides students with the proper safety and personal attention to ensure an awesome surfing experience.  Students may purchase Aloha Surfing School Rashguards for sun and skin protection.  As part of our strong commitment to safety, all camps are located adjacenet to guarded beach areas.  Additionally, we employ certified lifeguards and require all staff to be C.P.R. certified.

What we teach during Summer Camp:

* Safety awareness and how to swim safely out of a rip current

* Surfing etiquette

* Surf fitness

* Yoga for surfing

* Standing up and proper timing when catching waves

* Paddling techniques

* Catching waves and wave selection

* Turning, speeding up, slowing down, and more surfing maneuvers

* Duck diving

* Equipment selection and advice

* Techniques to practice on the beach before paddling out

* Being able to identify goofy foot from regular foot

* The difference between left breaking waves and right breaking waves

* Choosing the right beach to surf at based on skill level

For parents:

* We have carefully selected instructors, chosen for their love of surfing and the energy and enthusiasm that they bring to their surfing group

* We use soft surfboards that are safe and easy to learn on

* We offer Aloha Rashguards for sale at camp. Rashguards are water shirts which protect surfers from the sun and prevent rashes

* We teach on shallow sandbars that allow the students to stand up during their surfing experience
